I teach from Monday to Saturday, on a one-to-one basis with each lesson lasting an hour. Most students come once a week at a set time but I can be flexible about this if given sufficient notice. Contact me for available times.

For complete beginners I start with the basic rudiments of tuning and open chords, strumming and picking individual strings. This gives a good grounding in the correct methods of playing guitar. Depending on the preferences of the student I can also cover straightforward fingerstyle at this stage.

I use chord boxes and tablature to represent most guitar music, chords etc and teach the basics of interpreting these. Tablature can be seen as a "shorthand" form of writing guitar music as it is much easier to pick up than sheet music and speeds up considerably a beginners' knowledge of the instrument.
